MULTIPURPOSE BUILDING

A focus of Kentucky State University’s Division of Aquaculture is the use of the latest technology to prepare students for the workplace. Aquaculture’s status as KSU’s Program of Distinction requires that the division be an innovator in the use of state-of-the-art equipment.

The development of online courses goes beyond the traditional keyboard-based approach. Six Aquaculture online courses are video-based, allowing the student to see the teacher, PowerPoint presentations, video clips and lab experiments. These course may be downloaded to iPods, iPads and other handheld devices.

The exterior of the multipurpose building has a salmon color.

In the Multipurpose building, there is a videoconferencing room that can be linked to similar facilities across the state or world. It has just been converted to a high definition (HD) system.  Also, a favorite place for graduate students is the study area where individual study carrels -- that include computers and wireless Internet connections – are assigned to students.

Additionally, in this building there is a library stocked with aquaculture books and periodicals. Next door, is a large conference room for meetings and student resentations.

An all-inclusive processing room moves fish from ponds to freezers in minutes.
